Smoother travel on Anglesea St

Published: Wed 5 Dec 2018 04:53 PM
A new bus lane and road resurfacing will mean smoother travel for people taking public transport and driving along Anglesea St.
Work is taking place overnight this week between Knox St and the roundabout with Anzac Pde, to install a bus lane on the east side of the street and to resurface both sides of Anglesea St.
The new bus lane will connect with the Anzac Pde bus lane via a merge into the left lane at the roundabout. It will mean quicker travel for people using buses, and helping to ease congestion in the city. Five buses will use the lane #2 Silverdale, #10 Hillcrest, #13 University, #17 Hamilton East Uni and the CBD Shuttle.
The bus lane will be marked on the road with red paint and kerbside signage, and will operate between 6am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. No parking is permitted in the bus lane during these hours, however is allowed outside of those hours.
Traffic management will be in place between 7pm and 6am, with drivers asked to take extra care when travelling through here.
Work is expected to be completed on Friday (weather permitting) with the bus lane operational from Monday 10 December.
