Work at Deadman’s Point Bridge, Cromwell, starting Sunday

Published: Wed 5 Dec 2018 01:44 PM
The NZ Transport Agency is preparing to start work on the Deadman’s Point Bridge in Cromwell at the intersection of State Highways 8B and 8.
Repairs are needed to the bridge joint at the eastern end for road users’ safety, to be carried out by the Aspiring Highways maintenance team.
The work is scheduled to take place at nights from this Sunday, 9 December 7pm until Friday morning 14 December.
However, traffic will be reduced to one lane with Stop/Go traffic management for the full duration of the work – day and night - as the bridge joint needs to cure with minimal movements on it.
“This work is essential to maintain this section of highway. It has been carefully planned to minimise effects on road users, however, people travelling via the Deadman’s Point Bridge should expect minor delays,” says Mark Stewart, Maintenance Contract Manager, for the Transport Agency.
The Transport Agency thanks everyone for their patience and for taking care while traveling across the Deadman’s Point Bridge up to mid-December.
