Mayor John Leggett has welcomed the announcement from the Ministry of Education that work to co-locate the Marlborough Girls’ and Boys’ Colleges will begin early next year.
“This is fantastic news for Marlborough families. It provides certainty for intermediate and secondary education in our province for the coming decades.
“I commend Education Minister Chris Hipkins for rapidly moving this decision forward since his Government was elected. Marlborough has waited long enough.
“We look forward to working with the Government to deliver a step change in our children’s education.”
The rebuilt colleges will be co-located on the site currently occupied by Marlborough Girls’ College and Bohally Intermediate. Bohally will be re-located and rebuilt on the current Marlborough Boys’ College site.
