New bus transport hub at Wellington Airport opens today

Published: Mon 3 Dec 2018 09:53 AM
Travellers heading to Wellington Airport by bus now have a covered waiting area, connected to the main terminal by an undercover walkway. The two-story bus transport hub is housed within the airport’s new multi-level car park and will be used by the Airport Flyer bus and other scheduled bus services.
Wellington Airport’s transport manager Pippi Kettle says it will be a great addition to the airport’s transportation offer: “Having a dedicated undercover waiting area and walkway makes the transition from bus to terminal a really easy option for people.”
Kettle adds: “We recognise that not one size fits all when it comes to transport. We want people to choose the option that best suits them, whether that’s by car, bus or bike.”
The multi-level car park which opened to the public last month, has seven levels of covered car parks which sit above the transport hub, offering online booking or drive-up on the day options for any length of stay. As part of the multi-level car park project, the free public pick-up and drop off areas have also been extended and additional bike and motorbike facilities have been created.
The airport has also introduced a 120 minute express parking zone near the building and close to the terminal for those farewelling or collecting friends and family.
