Showery Week Ahead for Aotearoa but Ending on a High

Published: Sun 2 Dec 2018 01:00 PM
Summer is here. The clock is ticking on and with Xmas fast approaching, we reach that time of year where thoughts are drifting to BBQs, beach days and slip, slop, slap.
Unfortunately, kiwis will have to wait a little while longer. MetService are forecasting a showery week ahead with risks of isolated heavy rain, and thunderstorms.
“Many will remember the stormy end to spring,” says MetService Meteorologist Tui McInnes, “with every type of weather you can imagine – thunderstorms, hail, wind, rain and even snow!”
Unfortunately, the trend continues for the next few days. “A series of fronts move across Aotearoa as we go into the working week, bringing wet conditions,” McInnes explains, adding “unstable air with these systems means that some areas may also see isolated thunderstorms over the coming days.”
“Cooler temperatures could be in store mid-week,” McInnes comments, “but luckily these are likely to be brief.”
However, the news isn’t all bad, with the week ending on a high (pun intended). Expect fine conditions to bring the week to a close, which will surely be a welcome improvement for many!
