New Plymouth firm Clelands Construction is to build on its strong ties with the Govett-Brewster Foundation and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre, announcing a new partnership and backing for exhibitions.

The partnership will see Clelands working with the Gallery team over the next three years on a range of internal build projects, alongside backing a bold creative project each year for the local community.

Clelands Managing Director, Mike Braggins, said the Gallery is a stunning showcase for New Plymouth and Taranaki. “We are proud to have built it and contributed to its success for locals and visitors. We are keen to assist the Gallery team to increase local support, back creative talent and offer our team of professionals to enhance visitors’ experiences at the Gallery.”

“Work has already begun, with Clelands having recently built two new walls on the mezzanine floor to support a new exhibition opening this weekend – Haegue Yang: Triple Vita Nestings.”

New Plymouth District Mayor Neil Holdom said he was delighted to see another local company getting behind the Gallery.

“Clelands Construction makes a huge contribution to our district’s economy and we’re absolutely thrilled it will be strengthening its ties with our world-class art gallery which injects around $7.4 million into the economy each year (source BERL). As we continue to Build a Lifestyle Capital, local government and private sector partnerships are going to be crucial and this announcement today is a great example of us working together to enhance this place we call home,” says the Mayor.

Clelands joins a family of partners working with the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre to enhance its offerings for locals and visitors. Local partners include Govett Quilliam the Lawyers, Todd Energy and Technix.

The Govett-Brewster Foundation works to build on the vision, investment and legacy of the Gallery’s founding patron, Monica Brewster. It partners with individuals, trusts and companies to inspire investment in the future of the Gallery, its collections and initiatives of value to the city, region and country.
