Have yourself A Very Welly Christmas next weekend

Wellington City Council presents the highlight of the festive calendar in the capital city next weekend (24-25 November) as Wellington gets ready to welcome Santa and his friends to Lambton Quay for two days of family-friendly fun – and everyone’s invited.
Ice skating, circus acts, snow dome, face painting, kids’ crafts, bubbles, dancers, and carols in Midland Park – the two-day festival will have something for everyone as Lambton Quay is transformed into a festive wonderland.
There’s a huge line-up of events in the capital this summer, and Mayor Justin Lester can’t wait to start by celebrating Christmas in a very Welly way.
“It’s wonderful how Wellingtonians and visitors have embraced this fresh take on a longstanding tradition – it’s a major highlight for me and my whanau.
“Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s great to see our streets overflowing with fun, shopping made even easier, and a chance to enjoy a wide array of local talent. It’s a uniquely Wellington celebration, showcasing the vibrant and diverse culture of our city.”
We’re pleased to be bringing A Very Welly Christmas back to the capital with support from David Jones, and we are proud to have the Wellington Hospital Children’s Ward as our chosen charity.
Christmas is also a time for giving, so dig deep and support the Children’s Hospital with a donation. Keep an eye out for collectors, who’ll be there with Hospi the Hospital Lion on both days. You can also bring your Hospi Lion or other favourite cuddly toy to get repaired at the Hospi Clinic while you’re there.
To get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the festivities over both days, visit averywellychristmas.co.nz for what’s on and the festival map.
Much of Lambton Quay will be closed to vehicles during the event, so please check information on public transport, parking and road closures at averywellychristmas.co.nz. Weather updates can be found on our Facebook page.
