Councils invite submissions for Te Aha a Tūranga:Manawatū-Tararua Highway
Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) has received a Notice of Requirement application from NZTA. The application received on 2 November, relates to a new 11.5km State Highway 3 connection between Ashhurst and Woodville to replace the old Gorge Road to be known as Te Ahu a Tūranga: Manawatū-Tararua Highway.
The application covers land in three territorial authorities – Palmerston North City Council and Tararua District Council (TDC) and Manawatu District Council (MDC). PNCC is handling the project management of the application on behalf of all three councils.
Over 2600 letters were sent out earlier this week to ‘affected and interested parties’. The letters to the residents covers a huge area around the proposed road location stretching across the Ruahine Ranges from Ashhurst to Woodville.
Submissions are invited, under Section 169 (1) of the Resource Management Act 1991. The Application is being publicly notified for a statutory 20 working day period between Thursday 15 November to 4pm Thursday 13 December 2018.
A hearing for the application is likely to be scheduled in the first quarter of 2019.
The application details and submission forms can be viewed at a dedicated webpage on Palmerston North City Council’s website - https://www.pncc.govt.nz/teahuaturanga
