Century 21 supports famous Duck Race
The team at Century 21 Platinum (Tuakau) Real Estate are gearing up for another world-famous Duck Race to be held on Saturday 17 November in Tuakau.
Century 21 in Tuakau is a key sponsor of the annual Duck Race at Les Batkin Reserve from 11am to 3pm which Tuakau Kindergarten organises as its main fundraising event.
Esme Cole, Principal at Century 21 Platinum, says this year is set to be another great event with many community groups present, as well as a variety of food stalls and heaps of free entertainment for the kids.
“There will be 1,000 little yellow rubber duckies racing down the Waikato River for three great prize packages. There’ll also be a sponsors’ duck race. Last year over 1,000 people attended, which was a great fundraiser for Tuakau Kindergarten. Everyone’s hoping for an even better turnout this year. It’s a lot of fun,” she says.
Tuakau’s Century 21 team have named their duck Tarbey – after chairman and owner of Century 21 Australasia, Charles Tarbey no less! Tarbey will be dressed in the company’s colours for racing.
Ms Cole says the public can purchase their own racing duck by popping into Tuakau Kindergarten on Buckland Road before the event, with a small number of tickets available on the day for $5. However, the ducks themselves remain the property of the kindergarten.
Event entry is free. The free entertainment includes the Kindergarten Play Truck, KindyRock Jiggles, a bouncy castle, the Tuakau Volunteer Fire Brigade, an obstacle course, professional face painting and more. There will be plenty of food stalls and over $3,000 worth of raffle prizes to be won on the day.
The money raised enables Tuakau Kindergarten to run its Nature Discovery Programme which gives as many local children as possible an opportunity to spend time at some beautiful off-site spots in the wider area. The kindergarten’s own van takes the children to learn more about New Zealand’s native environment and the likes of bush and outdoor skills.
Organisers are encouraging people to tell their friends and family and bring a picnic blanket for a great day out. They’re also reminding people that the event is CASH ONLY as there will be no Eftpos reception at Les Batkin Reserve.

Century 21 National Manager Ryan Mitchell says Tuakau Principals Esme Cole and Rod Hull and all the team at Century 21 Platinum are passionate supporters of the wider Tuakau community.
“Their enthusiastic support of the Tuakau Kindergarten Duck Race is just another example of this George Street business being a great corporate citizen in Tuakau.
“Century 21 Platinum are also great business performers with Esme Cole just recently announced as one of our company’s top Property Managers in New Zealand for the third quarter this year. We’re very proud of Century 21 Platinum’s community and commercial commitment,” says Mr Mitchell.
Century 21 Platinum (Tuakau) Real Estate has also proudly sponsored Onewhero School Rowing and Onewhero Junior Boys Rugby, as well as supported the Tuakau Primary School Gala Day and recently the Waikaretu School Fun Run.
