Trade Show at Porirua’s City Hub
Check out the latest wares and ideas from Porirua’s
PopUp Business School at their Trade Show at 4 Lydney Place
North, Porirua from 1–2:30pm on Tuesday 13
November.
Students who’ve been doing the 10-day course will be setting up shop at the Trade Show, following more than a week of intensive work to bring their business ideas to life.
Tony Henderson Newport, who has brought PopUp Business School Aotearoa to Porirua for a second year, is excited to be able to show Porirua what the latest batch of students will bring to the show.
“We’ve seen lots of great, fresh ideas from this year’s intake and I’m excited about what they have to offer – we’re giving everyone the opportunity to come along and see their amazing ideas brought to life.”
Tony says it’s also been great to return to Porirua to where PopUp Business School began in Aotearoa.
“Alumni from last year’s course have been able to come along and inspire this year’s students and reconnect with the course tutors – it’s been awesome.”
The free 10-day course is designed to help people start their business and get their ideas off the ground instantly.
Each day of the course has featured talks from some of Porirua’s most successful small business owners about how they got started and things that helped make them succeed, such as social media, growing sustainably and pitching their business to others to gain new customers.
Porirua Mayor Mike Tana says last year’s course was a huge success and he’s rapt to see them returning this year.
“People in Porirua have had the opportunity to find out more about running a business, test the waters with their ideas, and make it happen. It’s a win-win for them and for Porirua, and I’m looking forward to seeing the latest ideas in action at the Trade Show.”
PopUp Business School Porirua has been made possible with funding from Porirua City Council, Wellington Region Economic Development Agency (WREDA) and Ministry of Social Development.
Since last year’s October course in Porirua, PopUp Business School has run courses in Whanganui, Upper Hutt, Kāpiti Coast, Tairāwhiti Gisborne and Auckland.
The graduation ceremony for the PopUp Business School students will take place on Friday 16 November at Te Ruaparaha Arena.
