Community ideas and insights released for Frankton

Feedback received through the early insights and ideas phase of the Frankton Masterplan has now been published online.

Back in September, Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) invited Wakatipu residents to join the conversation on what would make Frankton an even better place to live, work and play in the future.

Mayor Jim Boult was pleased with the response and thanked Wakatipu residents for taking the time to contribute to the early stages of this project.

“We received over 480 pieces of thoughtful feedback over the course of the campaign and garnered some interesting insights through the Frankton Forum held in collaboration with Shaping our Future and the Frankton Community Association,” Mayor Boult said.

“We really value the contribution and outcomes of collaborative opportunities like this and thank both Shaping our Future and the community association for getting involved and helping to facilitate it,” he said.

The responses will be fed into the next stage of the Frankton Masterplan project which will involve a workshop to define the vision and key objectives for Frankton in late November. The options developed from these sessions will be brought back to the community in early 2019.

QLDC General Manager Property & Infrastructure Peter Hansby confirmed that a consultant team had been appointed to complete the Masterplan.

“We’ve recently awarded the contract to a consultant team made up of GHD and Boffa Miskell to undertake the Masterplan project and associated Integrated Transport Programme Business Case,” Mr Hansby said.

The feedback and a summary highlighting emerging themes can be viewed online at www.qldc.govt.nz/frankton-masterplan.
