Auckland City Mission HomeGround development gets big boost

Auckland City Mission’s HomeGround development has received a welcome boost, with a major financial contribution from Forsyth Barr this week.
Auckland City Missioner Chris Farrelly says the mission is extremely grateful to Forsyth Barr, its clients and staff for the $452,000 donation which resulted from Forsyth Barr’s inaugural Charity Brokerage Day.
“This initiative from Forsyth Barr is a fantastic example of people standing together to help those in desperate need. Our HomeGround development is the most ambitious undertaking in our almost 100 year history and will change the way the Mission provides support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Our gratitude to Forsyth Barr and their clients for their support of both the Mission and those we work with is immense,” says Chris Farrelly.
Forsyth Barr Managing Director Neil Paviour-Smith says Auckland City Mission is an outstanding organisation working to solve problems of importance to everyone.
“The work the Auckland City Mission is doing is hugely important. We’re delighted that Forsyth Barr is able to play a part to making HomeGround a reality.”
Forsyth Barr Co-Head of Markets Jonty Edgar added, “We’ve been thrilled with the support of our institutional clients. They have embraced the initiative and been the key to making this contribution possible.”
Forsyth Barr donated all brokerage from institutional client transactions undertaken on Thursday October 25. Institutional clients were advised that by transacting through Forsyth Barr on that day they would be supporting the Auckland City Mission and the HomeGround development. In addition to all institutional brokerage, Forsyth Barr also made a considerable donation on behalf of its broader business, as well as personal donations from staff.
HomeGround is a transformational new development on the Mission’s Hobson Street site. The development will include 80 supportive housing units with onsite wrap around health and support services to address many of the factors which contribute to homelessness.
It will also provide services for vulnerable Aucklanders including a large medical centre, detox centre, educational and training facilities, crisis care emergency support, meals and food distribution services. Additionally HomeGround will also include spaces for local community social needs.
Forsyth Barr is a New Zealand owned firm providing a full range of investment services including portfolio management, investment advice and sharebroking, research, institutional broking and investment banking, as well as KiwiSaver, cash management and saving options.
