Streets around Hamilton’s Waterworld swimming complex will be under traffic control on Saturday when the refurbished
community recreation facility reopens.
The flagship facility for the Hamilton Pools operation – a subsidiary of Hamilton City Council – has undergone a $10.8M
refurbishment and fully reopens on Saturday 3 November at 10am, with a special event entitled The Big Splash.
With a large crowd expected to converge on Waterworld, streets around the complex will be under traffic control to
ensure traffic control through the neighbourhood and residents will have access to and from their homes.
To limit traffic congestion, people planning to attend the event are urged to:
• Carpool with friends and family.
• Walk or cycle.
• Use public bus services.
Parking at the facility is limited and those bringing vehicles should adhere to the Council’s Park Smarter messaging and
avoid blocking driveways, parking on yellow lines or on grass verges.
Waterworld staff will also operate a “one in, one out” entry policy and if the complex is deemed to be at capacity, it
is likely some patrons may need to wait to enter, return later in the day, or visit on another occasion. The priority
for pools management the safety of staff and customers.
All available staff are rostered for Waterworld’s reopening event, and customers attending are asked to show courtesy,
patience and understanding throughout the day.
Commercial food may not be brought into the complex and smoking/vaping is prohibited on the site.
The full reopening of Waterworld coincides with operational changes to opening hours for both facilities, and also
moderate price increases – these come into effect on Sunday, 4 November. Information booklets outlining the changes, and
the facility’s child supervision policy, are available to customers.
