QT HOTEL TO OPEN IN AUCKLAND
QT Hotels & Resorts announces its newest property, QT Auckland at Viaduct Harbour
Event Hospitality & Entertainment (EVENT) today announced it has entered into a management agreement with the Russell Property Group and
Lockwood Property Group for a QT hotel in Auckland. This will be the 10th QT hotel in the group and QT’s third New
Zealand property, joining the hugely successful QT Wellington and QT Queenstown. A design-led hotel with a luxurious and
quirky flair, complemented by a distinctive signature service, QT’s newest New Zealand flagship will bring a unique
offering that’s wonderfully far from ordinary.
Property Owners, the Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group, will be converting an existing building at 4
Viaduct Harbour into QT Auckland. The hotel will be perfectly located in the heart of Auckland’s downtown entertainment
precincts, known as Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter and will feature over 150 rooms, several conferencing and event
spaces, and a bold new QT signature dining concept and bar.
Event Hospitality and Entertainment New Zealand General Manager - Hotel Operations, Simon White says securing the right
location for a QT hotel in Auckland has been the priority, “This is a fantastic site, particularly in terms of its
proximity and we’re thrilled to have secured a management contract in partnership with the Russell and Lockwood Property
Groups. QT Hotels are created to be distinctively unique to their location and Auckland will be no exception.”
At the creative helm of QT Auckland is longstanding QT collaborator, interior designer Nic Graham. Graham will create
the interiors for a myriad of public spaces within the hotel, offering thoughtfully designed areas for locals and
visitors to come together.
EVENT has a strong shared vision with the Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group regarding the brand’s
unique market positioning, focus on innovation in food and beverage and the enhancement of the waterfront precinct.
Brett Russell, Director of Russell Property Group said: “The decision to convert 4 Viaduct Harbour Avenue to a hotel was an easy one; the strategic harbourside location
combined with the unique footprint of the existing building makes this one of the best conversion opportunities
available. Partnering with EVENT to provide Auckland with its first QT Hotel is very exciting. We are sure this vibrant
upscale brand will become a destination favourite for both travellers and locals alike”.
QT Hotels recently celebrated a triple-win in the annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, with three QT
properties ranking in the top 15 hotels in Australia and New Zealand.
Works will be completed by Dominion Constructors Limited, experts in the field of hotel development, having completed a
growing number of hotel projects in recent years. QT Auckland is expected to open in early 2020. Further details will be
announced soon.
