'Peace, peoples and planet' is the theme of the 2018 National Peace Workshops, which will open on Friday evening with a screening of 'Tātarakihi: Children of Parihaka' with Maata Wharehoka, Parihaka, details at https://web.facebook.com/events/2224626401195701

On Saturday 3 November, from 10am to 12.30pm, Moana Jackson, Ngāti Kahungunu / Ngāti Porou, will be speaking about peace and justice in Aotearoa, and there will be presentations on militarisation and climate justice in Aotearoa and the Pacific by Edwina Hughes, Peace Movement Aotearoa Coordinator; Teanau Tuiono, Ngāpuhi / NgaiTakoto / Atiu; and Mary Moeono-Kolio and Auimatagi Joseph Moeono-Kolio, Pacific Climate Warriors.

Also on Saturday: a peace networking session with short presentations on a range of peace related topics and groups from 1.30pm to 3pm; the Peace Pavilion, with information and displays on peace issues; Poets for Peace and Planet ( https://www.facebook.com/events/286740918636253 ) from 3.30pm to 5.30pm; peace art activities for all abilities and ages; laughter and learning ... and more. The peace networking session includes presentations on animal rights and peace, Campaign to Stop Killer Robots Aotearoa New Zealand, Peace Action Manawatu, NZ Alternative, Pax Christi Aotearoa New Zealand, iCAN Aotearoa New Zealand, World Beyond War, Aotearoa New Zealand Disarmament Hub, and yDisarm (the by youth for youth disarmament project).

The closing session, on faith perspectives on peace - with Pax Christi International Secretary General, Greet Vanaerschot; Quaker Peace and Service Aotearoa New Zealand Clerk Stephanie du Fresne; and Trashi Ge Phel Ling Wellington Buddhist Centre Spiritual Coordinator Paul Jacobson; and NZ Council of Christian Social Services Policy Advisor Paul Barber - is from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Sunday, 4 November.

Registration: Pre-registration is necessary for catering purposes and it is essential that you let us know by Wednesday, 31 October, if you are coming along to the peace workshops - please fill in the registration form at http://www.converge.org.nz/pma/ppp18-reg.doc and send it to the two email addresses on the form; or leave a message on 04 382 8129 with your name, contact email, your food requirements (vegan / gluten-free), and which sessions you are coming to. Registration is by donation - $10 / $30, or whatever you can afford - details of payment options are on the registration form.
