The end of the weekend is bringing fine weather to most, but there has been plenty of rain across New Zealand during the
last two days. Mt Taranaki topped the list with the North Egmont gauge, 930m up the mountain, getting 25.5mm in the hour
to 6pm Saturday, 48.5 in the two hours to 6pm, and 130.5mm for the weekend so far. Waharau Regional Park, east of
Auckland recorded an impressive 24.0mm in the hour up to 8pm Saturday evening, resulting in 76.5mm for the 6 hours to
midnight Saturday. Observations from the Tararua Range round out the rest of the top ten wettest spots this weekend.
“As we look to the week ahead, Kiwis the length and breadth of the country can expect weather conditions best described
as ‘changeable’, which is typical of Spring,” said Meteorologist Rob Kerr. “A series of troughs and ridges sweep over
New Zealand, meaning different weather every day of the week for everyone,” he added.
Temperatures across New Zealand will be marginally cooler than average this week, with the far south struggling to get
double figure highs on Tuesday, and while everyone is getting rained on at some point, the northern half of the North
Island is still not expected to get more rain than normal for this time of year.
