Businesses Look Forward to Construction of Otaki to Levin Link
Following the New Zealand Transport Agency’s confirmation that construction of a new Otaki to Link expressway will go ahead, businesses are looking forward to as early a construction date as possible says the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and Business Central.
"Businesses across the entire lower North Island will benefit from improved links in and out of our capital city, so it is pleasing to see one of the key sections from Otaki to Levin receiving the green light," says Business Central Chief Executive John Milford.
"Despite the uncertainty generated by recent government reviews of key transport projects, the value of providing a modern, safe route connecting to the Peka Peka to Otaki Expressway and Transmission Gully beyond has been recognised.
"Businesses rely on dependable transport corridors to move their goods around and the vast, expensive delays caused by last Friday’s truck crash near Plimmerton only reinforced the need for greater resilience on State Highway One.
"Unfortunately, the specific route nor construction date has been confirmed yet.
Providing certainty on these points as quickly as possible will ensure ongoing support from locals and businesses.
