Detective Sergeant Brad Greenstreet, Canterbury CIB:
Police investigating an armed robbery at a Christchurch bar are asking anyone who witnessed it or has information about the incident to come forward.
Shortly before 9pm, three men wearing black hoodies and scarves over their faces entered Coaster’s Tavern on Daniels Road, Redwood.
The men, who were armed with various weapons including a machete and a firearm, threatened bar staff and patrons as they demanded money.
Two victims received moderate injuries requiring medical attention.
The three men left the bar in a stolen dark blue Mazda Familia hatchback before dumping this vehicle nearby in a residential area and using a second vehicle to leave the area.
This was a violent and dangerous incident and it is fortunate more people were not seriously hurt.
Police would like to speak with anyone who might have information about this incident or those involved.
