A Gathering of Scarecrows

Published: Wed 24 Oct 2018 01:57 PM
There is still time to enter a scarecrow at the upcoming Gathering of Scarecrows to be held at Hamilton Gardens.
The annual event is hosted by the Friends of Hamilton Gardens and will be held on Sunday, 4 November. Budding creators will have the opportunity to showcase their efforts among the vegetables in the Kitchen Garden.
Scarecrows designed by local children, groups and families will be on display, and this year a “grown ups” category has been added so parents and grandparents can enter their own creations.
“The event aims to increase the awareness of our productive gardens,” Hamilton Gardens Business Development Manager Tamsin Webb says. “The Kitchen Garden, Herb Garden and Sustainable Garden have inspired many visitors and this event is very popular with families. We are looking forward to seeing the creative efforts from the community.”
Throughout the day there will be children’s activities including the Scarecrow Trail, face painting, chalk drawing, sunflower planting and various food stalls.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the Hamilton Gardens website and scarecrows can be delivered to the Gardens between Wednesday, 31 October and Friday, 2 November 2018.
The public can vote for their favourite scarecrow with prize giving at 2pm.
When: Sunday, 4 November 2018
Open 11am to 3pm. Prize giving at 2pm.
Free entry.
