The Auckland City Mission’s transformational new development, HomeGround, has just taken an important step forward with
the naming of the construction company to deliver the project.
Built Environs, part of the McConnell Dowell group, has been selected to develop HomeGround on the Mission’s Hobson
Street site. Work will begin Friday 12th October 2018.
The development set for completion in 2020, will include 80 supportive housing units with onsite wrap around health and
support services to address many of the factors which contribute to homelessness.
The redevelopment will also provide services for vulnerable Aucklanders including a large medical centre, detox centre,
educational and training facilities, crisis care emergency support, meals and food distribution services. Additionally
HomeGround will also include spaces for local community social needs.
Auckland City Missioner Chris Farrelly says “Built Environs was selected because they understood the importance of this
project to Auckland and the overall objectives of the Mission. They have also brought together a very strong and
experienced team to work on this building.”
Built Environs General Manager Greg Pritchard says the company is thrilled to have been selected to create this truly
unique facility.
“A unique building such as this creates the opportunity to challenge all our orthodoxies and deliver in a genuinely
different way. With the support of our client, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, we look forward to
collaboratively delivering this project for the community.”
The new facility’s completion will coincide with the Mission’s centenary in 2020.
