Night Noodle Markets turns up the heat
Night Noodle Markets turns up the heat for biggest events yet in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch
The
ever-popular hawker-style pop-up food festival, Night Noodle
Markets, is returning this summer to New Zealand’s three
largest cities - Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington - and
it’s set to be better than ever.
Celebrating the mouth-watering tastes of Asia, visitors get to enjoy live entertainment and explore the array of Eastern flavours from top-notch international and local stallholders. With more international vendors, live entertainment and extra nights for Christchurch and Wellington, David Blackwell, Stuff Events Operations Manager, says this season is set to go down a treat.
“The Night Noodle Markets is growing in popularity every year and this season marks the fourth year putting on the event for New Zealanders - we’re excited to be bringing Kiwis more of what they love this time round.”
First up is Auckland at Victoria Park in November, followed by Christchurch in February for an extended 12 night festival from Waitangi Day. The series wraps up in April at an all-new venue in Wellington, the Basin Reserve, for 10 nights.
With free entry, visitors can treat themselves to everything from fusion dumplings, fresh-off-the-grill BBQ skewers, poke’ bowls, delicious eastern desserts and much more.
Newcomers and regular event-goers can expect to try something they have never tasted before. As well as fan-favourites Hoy Pinoy and Gelato Messina, Bangkok Street Thai and Bao Brother’s Eatery join the line-up of international vendors bringing fresh and exciting dishes to our cities.
More than 380,000 people attended the last events in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, with as many as 30 per cent coming from outside the events’ central areas.
Blackwell and his team are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the events are not just authentic and immersive, but operationally world-class and environmentally-friendly. Last season, simple initiatives such as introducing eco packaging and new waste management systems saw 74 per cent of the 58 tonnes of waste generated from the three events diverted from landfill.
“It’s all shaping up to be one heck of an event, but it’s not just about the vendors and new venues. We’re welcoming some exciting new event partners, including Moa Beer and Crafters Union wines (Constellation Brands NZ) with their innovative canned beverages; Ford with an exciting interactive vehicle display; and Singapore Airlines with their crowd-pleasing Top Chopsticks award.
“The upcoming Night Noodle Markets season is truly going to be a memorable one!”
