The Remarkables extending ski season with two extra weeks

The Remarkables extending ski season with two extra weeks of skiing, snowboarding in October

Queenstown, 28 September 2018 – The Remarkables, the iconic Queenstown ski field, has extended the ski season off the back of record snowfall, continued cool temperatures, staff support and demand from locals.

Considered to have the most photographed peaks in Queenstown, the closing date for The Remarkables ski field has been extended to October 14.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager The Remarkables, said the season has been incredible with strong patronage, exceptional snow conditions and amazing staff support.

“We have proven yet again we can be flexible and you can count on the The Remarkables to thrive well past winter. The current snow coverage with 102 – 142 cms on our base has helped to confirm this decision.”

“Prime spring temperatures expected to follow for the next couple of weeks and the promising weather forecast makes for exciting times ahead.

“This season was particularly special with too many great days to count and I know the guests are thankful for the memories.”

The Remarkables base lodge facilities including guest services, retail and rental (without the repair workshop) will be operating. Food and beverage will remain open as per current set up without the Ice Bar. The three conveyors, Alta, Sugar Bowl and Curvey Basin Express will be operating excluding Shadow Basin.
