Council to consider revised funding proposal for Waimea dam
Tasman District Council to consider revised funding
proposal for Waimea water
scheme
The Tasman District
Council has been asked to consider a revised funding
proposal from supporters of the scheme that could allow the
Waimea Community Dam project to continue.
The Council will meet at 1.15pm on Thursday 6 September to discuss the revised funding proposal, which would lower the impact on ratepayers of the project’s cost escalation.
The inclusion of this topic on Thursday’s meeting agenda complies with the Council’s standing order requirements for reconsidering decisions. This will give the Council the opportunity to consider new information and review the decision of 28 August.
While the discussion will take place with the public excluded because it includes information on commercial negotiations, there will be the opportunity for the public to speak to councillors in a Public Forum before the confidential section of the meeting begins.
The Public Forum will be limited to three minutes per speaker. There will be a maximum of 15 minutes allocated for those who wish to speak in support of the Waimea Community Dam and a maximum of 15 minutes for those wishing to speak in opposition to the Dam.
Anyone wishing to speak during Public Forum must register their intention to do so in writing 24 hours prior to the meeting.
