Find out what an Impact Hub can do in the Coromandel

Published: Fri 17 Aug 2018 05:23 PM
Wintec and Trust Waikato will be hosting a group of global Impact Hub delegates next week in our district.
The purpose of their visit is to celebrate the work that has been done towards setting up an Impact Hub in New Zealand so far, and to workshop and discuss next steps.
Impact Hubs have been set up in dozens of places around the world to create flexible work spaces where start-ups and social entrepreneurs can rent desks and meeting venues and collaborate with one another.

Groups in several different areas of the country are working on starting up Impact Hubs in their area, and Jessica Liu is the project manager of the Waikato Impact Hub, which has support from Wintec and Trust Waikato.
See the Wintec website for more on the Waikato Impact Hub.
“Feedback from our first workshop has been extremely positive, and there is a high level of commitment to the concept. We have an awesome start to our journey of setting up an Impact Hub here in the Waikato,” Jessica Liu says.
Impact Hub Aotearoa intends to close the gaps in the innovation and entrepreneurship system, utilising existing resources.
During the week of 20 - 24 August there will be a series of different events. There is no need to register for the events, just come along.
The global Impact Hub delegates will visit regional Waikato towns to network and present on Impact Hub:
• Thames - Monday 20 August, 2.30pm at Thames Community Centre, Mackay Street.
• Colville - Tuesday 21 August, 10.30 am at Colville Cafe, Colville Road.
• Coromandel Town - Tuesday 21 August, 2.30pm at Christ's Church, (Anglican Hall) on Tiki Road (opposite Pound Street).
There are also further workshops available at Wintec in Hamilton.
Collaboration Day - Wednesday 22 August. This event offers the opportunity for all those who are interested in or working on developing an Impact Hub in New Zealand to present on what they have done so far and what they are working on next. This event will also offer the opportunity to workshop and network with others involved in this space.
Impact Hub Day - Thursday 23 August. This will be presented by the global Impact Hub delegates. They will discuss what an Impact Hub is, what is being done internationally, and the key considerations when setting up an Impact Hub.
