YMCA To Provide Care During Teacher Strike August 15th, 2018
The principal and teacher’s union NZEI Te Riu Roa has voted to extend a planned three-hour strike on August 15 to a full day.
Whilst the YMCA understands the teachers demands and reasons for striking, they also believe this should not interrupt family and student’s routine. Therefore, on Wednesday 15th August The YMCA will be running full days care at several centers (listed below). Students who do not attend the schools listed are also invited to book in for the day.
Amy Moreland - Head of Children’s Services said ‘At the YMCA we work under the four pillars of Family, Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility. It is our duty to provide care for our community to live up to our social responsibility and support families’
