Million dollar views for just a gold coin: Sky Tower opens for Youthline
New Zealand residents will be able to enjoy the view from the top of the Sky Tower for just a gold coin donation this
Friday 3 August, with all proceeds going to Youthline.
Brad Burnett, General Manager of Hotels and Sky Tower says SKYCITY is thrilled to provide an opportunity for people to
visit the Sky Tower on its birthday for a such a good cause.
”Last year we had such an overwhelming response with more than 7,500 people attending our free day to celebrate the Sky
Tower’s 20th birthday. We wanted to do it again, but this time to support Youthline, a charity that’s doing some
incredibly important work in our community,” says Mr Burnett.
Since 2010 SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust has granted a total of $414,066 to Youthline. This year SKYCITY Auckland
community trust granted $64,066 to assist with volunteer training.
The Sky Tower, which celebrates 21 years on Friday 3 August, has stood tall in the heart of Auckland city as one of New
Zealand’s most distinguished landmarks and tourist attractions since opening. In a mark of longevity, the Sky Tower has
been voted the number one activity on TripAdvisor for Auckland by visitors for the past four months.
On Friday 3 August SKYCITY will light the Sky Tower as a flickering candle to celebrate the Sky Tower’s birthday.
SKYCITY expects high visitation numbers and encourages people to arrive at Federal Street early to make the most of this
occasion.
