Second stage of tree work at Hamilton Lake Domain
24 July 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A section of Hamilton Lake Domain’s popular boardwalk will be closed for one day this week for tree management work.
The section of boardwalk, on the southwestern side, will be closed on Wednesday 25 July, from 8am to 5pm, for the second stage of a tree removal project which began in April.
The trees are in poor condition – and some specimens have died – and Hamilton City Council’s City Landscapes staff have concerns they will fail, potentially injuring boardwalk users and damaging the Council’s assets.
The path closure will commence at 8am and end at about 5pm, depending on progress with the tree removal.
Path users will need to leave the path at the Hamilton Yacht Club building, detour via Lake Cres, and then be able to rejoin the boardwalk via the access path between 122 and 116 Lake Cres.
A third phase of the job is scheduled Wednesday, 1 August, when the same temporary path closure will be needed.
