Waitangi Day Concert application referred to Environ Court
Eden Park Waitangi Day Concert application referred to Environment Court
Auckland Council's Resource Consent General Manager has accepted the Eden Park Trust’s request for the Waitangi Day Concert application to be determined by the Environment Court through a direct referral process instead of by the council.
"The council has agreed to the applicant’s request as the application is contentious and an appeal to the Environment Court is likely," Resource Consent General Manager Ian Smallburn says.
"The proposal is also constrained by a tight timeframe, and time and expense will be saved for all involved."
"At the close of submissions we received 488 (360 in support, 127 in opposition and one neutral).
"Submitters will have an opportunity to become involved in the direct referral process by lodging an application to become a ‘section 274 party’ to the Court proceedings."
Those who made a submission on the application will be contacted directly by Auckland Council and provided with further information about the direct referral process in the near future.
