Update - Heavy Rain Warning for Our Ranges Extended & Strong Wind Watch Remains
The MetService have extended the Heavy Rain Warning for our ranges with Bay of Plenty – they are predicting that a further 70mm to 100mm of rain may accumulate on top of what has already fallen.
The Strong Wind watch also remain for Gisborne, Bay of Plenty and & Hawkes Bay – for 9:00am till 11:00pm Monday Northwest winds may approach severe gale at times.

The highest
rainfall totals for 12hrs from 8:00pm Sunday to 8:00am
Monday morning are in line with Heavy Rain Warning as they
are on or near the ranges;

Eastland Network report that they have mainly been dealing with isolated odds and sods power outages around the District. There was a broken power pole in the Motohora area but no major power issues at this stage.

UPDATE 6:15AM, MON 09 JUL - SH2 WAIOEKA GORGE
CLOSED
The Waioeka Gorge will remain
closed today until the current bad weather eases.
At this time a safety assessment will be performed and a
decision as to an opening time will be made. With this in
mind the slip site is unlikely to open before midday and,
with heavy rain presently forecast all day, may not open at
all today. We will update further around midday
today.
