Council Reappoints Chief Executive
Hurunui District councillors have agreed to reappoint council Chief Executive Officer Hamish Dobbie, Mayor Winton Dalley has announced.
Mr Dobbie commenced the role of CEO in September 2013 on a five year fixed-term contract as prescribed under the Local Government Act 2002 (the Act). Councillors have confirmed his reappointment for a further two years, the maximum extension permitted under the Act. “I’m pleased that Hamish has agreed to stay on and continue the great work he is doing for our district.
Hamish has lead an impressive work programme in his first five years and has used his extensive managerial experience to guide the council through major adverse events and significant change,” says Mayor Dalley.
“Hamish’s loyal support and effective facilitation of the council’s strategic direction has centered on financial stability and core services. This has put us in a strong position to withstand a period of significant disruption which has challenged our council and district.”
“As we move out of a period of recovery, stability and continuity in our council staff team led by Hamish, will be beneficial to the ongoing effectiveness of the council. Hamish’s reappointment will provide that continuity and stability.”
“I am looking forward to
working with Hamish in order to see our recovery projects
through to completion and to continue to serve the interests
of our people by taking Hurunui forward.” ENDS
