Make a difference at Sustainability Trust’s winter market
Brighten up your winter — Sustainability Trust's Winter Market is back!
The Make a Difference Market is on Saturday June 30, 10am - 2pm at Sustainability Trust’s EcoCentre in Forresters Lane. This unique market will inspire locals who want to make a difference with the power of their spending.
More than 20 local, ethical and eco-friendly businesses will help people get set for winter, plastic-free July and Fairtrade fortnight. Like Sustainability Trust, many stall holders invest profits in community programmes, or have a Fairtrade, ethical, natural, recycled or reusable twist.
“Winter shouldn’t be a struggle,” says Sustainability Trust Chief Executive Phil Squire. “We’re hosting this market because we want Wellingtonians to celebrate all the good things in life, like delicious food, cheerful company and a cosy space to go home to.”
Marketgoers can expect delicious food from Wellington Chocolate Factory and Nude Grocer, beautiful underwear from Nisa, stylish homewares from Niche Textile Studio and Verdant Design, handmade soap from Underground Soapery and Sustainability Trust’s own range of eco-friendly goods. All washed down with Fairtrade coffee and warm, tasty food from Dukes of Sandwich. There will also be an electric car there for people to try out. We’re not selling them, we just want people to feel the greener vroom!
Sustainability Trust will also be on site to answer questions about insulation, heating and draught-proofing, and with DIY home energy products for fast home fixes.
“Whether you own a home or rent one, there will be lots at our market to help people get more out of their homes, for less. From handmade door-snakes to home heating, re-usable lunch wraps to keep cups, we’ve got lots of products and info to help make winter warm and sustainable.”
