Te Waikoropupū Springs hearing restarts in late June

MEDIA RELEASE

FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2018

The Special Tribunal hearing for a Water Conservation Order (WCO) application for Te Waikoropupū Springs will reconvene on 27 and 28 June 2018.

The Environmental Protection Authority’s Nationally Significant Proposals Manager, Stephanie Frame says the Tribunal will meet for one and a half more hearing days to hear final evidence and closing statements.

“While there is no set time limit, once the formal hearing concludes a decision needs to be provided by the Tribunal as soon as practical,” says Stephanie.

“The Tribunal will provide a recommendation directly to the Minister for the Environment for consideration.

“This can be appealed through the Environment Court after a decision has been made by the Minister.

The hearing will reconvene at 1:00 pm on Wednesday 27 June, at the same venue, the Golden Bay Park Recreation Centre, 2032 Takaka Valley Highway, Takaka.
