Statement re Te Papa evacuation tonight
June 8
"A suspicious package found at Te Papa which saw us evacuate earlier this evening has been dealt with by the experts and found to be harmless. Te Papa will open tomorrow as usual.
Our apologies to those who missed out on their school ball as a result - we understand it's being rescheduled. The safety of the public comes first at our place of course and we're thankful for the understanding of those affected.
We appreciate the rapid assistance and expertise of Police and NZDF. We will work with Police to help in their further inquiries. "
Geraint Martin, Te Papa Chief Executive
