Results in for Lyttelton by-election

Tyrone Fields has won the Lyttelton Subdivision by-election for the Banks Peninsula Community Board, progress results show.
So far, the return rate for votes is 39 per cent. However, progress results do not include special votes and voting papers returned today before the noon deadline.
The progress results show the following:
FIELDS, Tyrone Labour (The People’s Choice) 465
STRUTHERS, Robyn Independent Citizens 169
COUCH-LEWIS, Yvette 144
STANBRIDGE, Ashley 100
DIETSCHE, Paul Independent 55
Preliminary results will be available by Thursday and the final result is expected to be confirmed after Saturday, 19 May.
Christchurch City Council Electoral Officer Jo Daly says it is good to see people involved in the democratic process.
“It’s great that people have a voice in who represents their local community,” Ms Daly says.
“By casting their vote, they have demonstrated the importance of their individual contribution to community decision-making.”
The Banks Peninsula Community Board is made up of representatives from the Lyttelton, Mt Herbert, Akaroa and Wairewa Subdivisions and the councillor for the Banks Peninsula Ward.
