Does Air NZ need 3 or 4 engines in aircraft again?

Some Airlines have 3 or 4 engines in aircraft and/or some have just have twin engine jets.
Are twin engine aircraft the right choice over water in the event of double engine failure?
Wakeman a former passenger jet airline pilot is concerned about the future in the event a twin engine aircraft has double engine failure over water.
Peter Wakeman is standing in the Northcote by-election with Dan Bidois and Shanan Halbert on the 9 June 2018. With NZ Government shareholding in Air NZ will there be a new 3 or 4 engine plane that can be looked at?
