Ruapehu District Council’s Building Team is out completing the process of confirming what buildings are inhabitable as per the requirements of the Building Act.
This will allow insurance assessors and owners to access the properties under supervision.
Ruapehu Civil Defence will be accompanying people on visits to restricted properties.
There are 14 properties with restricted access.
The cordon is still in place.
An action plan is being developed in conjunction with council's waste contractor for the clean-up and removal of debris.
There has been numerous offers of volunteer help.
Anyone in National park wanting to volunteer is asked to register their availability at the Welfare Centre at National Park School.
Anyone outside National Park is asked to call Council on 07 895 8188 to register their availability and advise any special skills or equipment they may have.
The Welfare Centre is still operational in the National Park School hall.
Anyone in need of assistance is asked to go to the Welfare Centre.
