Tornado in National Park Village

The Lines Company have restored electrical supply. Damaged properties have had their electrically isolated.

The Welfare Center is supporting response teams and public.

Absentee homeowners may also need this resource if access to their homes is limited. Those in transit have been asked to report into the welfare center.

Four households have been rehomed to commercial accommodation.

Cordons are in place for limiting public access safety while homes are insecure.

Some roads have been closed to limit road access to damaged areas. They are; Carroll street, Buddo street north, McKenzie Street north.

Urban SAR have undertaken structural inspections of damaged properties prior to allowing public and homeowner access.

· 7 x RED sticker properties

· 6 x Yellow sicker properties

· 1 x Green

· 11 x properties are uninhabitable

King Country Security are on site to assist with security overnight until 0600.

Taupo CDEM team (5) have been requested and due to arrive at 19:15 to assist with managing cordons.

Several trees are down in National Park along the storm track are now cleared however debris remain a hazard.

Water is safe to drink, sewerage is operational.

RDC building team will be on site tomorrow morning to post notices on restricted buildings.

The ICP is now closed for the evening and will reopen tomorrow morning at 7.00am.
