National Park Village Tornado update
Ruapehu civil defence has been activated and are assisting fire crews and Police already on the scene
There are no reports of injuries.
A welfare centre has been set up at National Park School
Anyone wanting assistance should go there on Carroll St.
Reports of damage are starting to come in.
One house unoccupied has been destroyed on the corner of Turner Place and Buddo St
Two other unoccupied houses in Turner Place have had partial roof loss
One house on Carroll St has suffered slight damage
Minor damage to other buildings
We are still assessing the situation
The power is out with significant damage to lines.
Water systems are working but have not been assessed.
