New sponsors back Rangers’ drive for NBL success
Two months out from the start of this year’s National Basketball League, the Super City Rangers are hoping a two-year
deal with new sponsor 2CheapCars will power their drive for a maiden title.
The West Auckland-based team has made the top four finals for the past four seasons, and coach Jeff Green says they are
ready to go one step further.
“Corporate partnerships are an essential part of sport and 2CheapCars support will enhance our chances. The success of
2CheapCars as a business will translate to the business of the Supercity Rangers and we all look forward to further
success on and off the court.”
2CheapCars CEO Eugene Williams says he’s pleased to be backing the Rangers and looking forward to an exciting season.
“I really admire what the Rangers have achieved over the past five years – going from an all-amateur outfit at the foot
of the table in 2013 to be being perennial contenders for the top spot,” says Eugene.
“It’s not that different to our journey from one small yard in Penrose to successful dealerships all around the
country.”
Williams says a strong local competition is vital for the long-term health of the sport in New Zealand, and he hopes
other companies will see the value in backing grassroots sport.
“This is where our future stars learn to play like professionals. If we can help keep the League on a secure footing,
we’re going to help Kiwi basketball and Kiwi ball players succeed nationally and internationally.”
