Marlborough dines out on Wellington flight change
Marlborough Mayor John Leggett has welcomed Air New Zealand’s decision to shift one of its weekday Wellington morning flights to Blenheim to the middle of the day. The change will take effect from Tuesday 3 April.
“The new flight time provides greater flexibility for people travelling to and from Wellington from Blenheim. I’d like to thank Air New Zealand for listening to our community, who were keen on this change,” Mayor Leggett says.
The flight is scheduled to depart Wellington at 12:30pm, arriving in Blenheim at 1pm and will be operated by their 50-seat Q300 aircraft. The flight will depart Blenheim to return to Wellington at 1:25pm.
Ian Collier, Regional Affairs Manager, Air New Zealand says the schedule change has come in response to feedback from people in Marlborough around the ability to do a half day of business in Wellington from Blenheim.
“We are pleased to have been able to achieve this for the community after working closely with Mayor Leggett.”
Air New Zealand is also coming on board as a sponsor of Feast Marlborough in mid-May. Feast Marlborough celebrates the region’s food, with a diverse, four day event that brings local people, produce and culinary talent together, to share with food-loving visitors hungry to learn more about Marlborough’s products.
“We are delighted to help support Feast Marlborough,” Mr Collier says. “It’s rapidly expanded into a series of culinary events that celebrate the best of Marlborough’s stunning produce and wine.”
