Dunedin Airport Welcome for Paralympic Medallist
Dunedin (Wednesday, 21 March 2018) – Dunedin residents are being encouraged to turn out to welcome home Paralympic gold and
bronze medallist Adam Hall tomorrow evening.
Mr Hall, who won gold in the men’s slalom and bronze in the super combined at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter
Games in South Korea, arrives at 6.45pm (NZ677) on Thursday at the Dunedin International Airport.
While Mr Hall now resides much of his time in Wanaka, he also lives in Dunedin periodically. He was born in and grew up
in Dunedin and retains strong connections to the city.
Mayor of Dunedin Dave Cull says Dunedin and the wider Otago region is immensely proud of Mr Hall’s achievements, both on
and off the slopes.
“As well as the medals, Adam also received the Whang Youn Dai achievement award in PyeongChang. The award is presented
to one male and one female athlete at each Paralympics who best exemplify the spirit of the games,” says Mr Cull.
“This shows that not only is Adam a remarkably talented athlete, he’s a remarkable human being.”
A lone piper from the City of Dunedin Pipe Band will greet Mr Hall off his flight, and Cr Christine Garey will deliver a
congratulatory speech.
