New Zealand’s day to celebrate walking is Wednesday 14 March 2018
Pedestrian advocacy group Living Streets Aotearoa aims to celebrate the important place of walking in New Zealand tomorrow.
Walk to Work Day acknowledges the great health benefits, convenience and fun of getting out on foot for your whole journey or as part of a bus or train trip.
“This year we would like to see people increase the walking part of their daily commute”, says Andy Smith, Living Streets President. “Walking has huge physical and mental health benefits, is great for the environment, gets you out being part of your community and is part of every journey we take. There’s always something interesting to see along the way so please share those moments with us by sending a photo”.
Wellington walkers can join a walk from one of 7 locations or a talk with local councillors. Auckland people can join in a breakfast from 7am at the corner of Symonds St and Karangahape Road.
