The Winter Project, a Marsden student-led
organisation, has their first Drive of 2018!
A group of six Year 12 students at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School, have been running a non-profit organisation called The Winter Project. This organisation’s purpose is to provide Wellingtonians in need with warmth throughout the cold winter months. By
collecting and co-ordinating second-hand, warm, winter clothing and blankets, and distributing them to schools in the
wider Wellington region, these girls are able to give families in need the necessities to keep warm during the winter
season. The Winter Project uses the resources available to them such as their school community, neighbourhood, and other
schools in Wellington to gather their donations. They have partnered with Samuel Marsden Collegiate School, Recycle
boutique (an opportunity shop), Wadestown School and Kelburn School, and the donations received are collected regularly.
The Winter Project is hosting their first collection drive of 2018, this will be from 10:30am until 2:00pm on Sunday the
25th of March, located on the Samuel Marsden School Collegiate entrance on Karori road (opposite St. Mary’s church). To
contribute to this incredible cause, you can come to the drive and donate any second-hand, warm, winter clothing or
blankets that you have no use for anymore. These could include blankets, scarves, jackets, jumpers, beanies, gloves,
thermals, tops, pants and any other winter clothing you have. Anything you donate is greatly appreciated and shows
Wellingtonians in need that they are cared for and thought of.
