Grassroots Giving Programme seeking applications
9 March 2018
Grassroots Giving Programme seeking applications from local community organisations.
The Grassroots Giving Programme is calling for funding applications from local community organisations in Auckland's South, Central, and Eastern suburbs.
Part of the Auckland Foundation’s annual granting, grants of up to $10,000 are available to support specific initiatives, such as youth development, literacy and numeracy, and migrant and refugee services. The programme is enabled by the generosity of The Tindall Foundation.
Auckland Foundation CEO, Dellwyn Stuart says,
"Grassroots organisations are the glue that binds our communities. These aren’t the big glamorous charities, but often local people who have seen an opportunity to make a difference and are making it happen. It is exactly these types of organisations that the Grassroots Giving Programme is seeking to support, and give a hand up to."
Papatoetoe Adolescent Christian Trust (PACT) is one of the thirty-eight Auckland charities who received a financial boost with a grant from last year's Grassroots Giving Programme.
Community Youth Worker Erin Berry says,
"The support of the Grassroots Giving Programme has been a huge help, enabling us to provide opportunities for young people and families to connect with each other, and to engage in something meaningful and positive within their community. We have seen young people grow and develop resilience, families reconciled and connected to the community, youth learning practical life skills to help them make overcome hardships, and young people willing to give back by becoming volunteers."
"Knowing that we have the support of grants like the Grassroots Giving Fund has been a huge encouragement for us and the work that we do."
The Grassroots Giving Programme is open now for applications from South Auckland, Central Auckland and East Auckland groups and initiatives, and will close on 29 March 2018. To apply or find out more, please visit www.aucklandfoundation.org.nz.
