Event Management Workshops Coming to the Hurunui
Communities throughout North Canterbury will soon have the opportunity to learn all there is to know about organising
community programmes and events.
The Hurunui District Council’s Community Team is running a number of Get Set Go! workshops over the coming months to
upskill community and not for profit groups. The workshop events will take place in Cheviot on Friday 16 March, in Waiau
Thursday 3 May and in Kaikoura on Friday 4 May.
“These workshops are about empowering local communities to run events themselves and pull them off successfully. They
will create a valuable event management knowledge-base in the district,” says Community Team Leader Rochelle Faimalo.
“Whether your community programme or event involves art, music, culture, sport, social or club events these workshops
provides essential education for planning management. They will provide you with a great opportunity to learn how to
turn your ideas into reality by using a step-by-step plan.”
Interested parties are encouraged to engage in this opportunity and sign up for the workshops.
Registration enquiries and requests for further information should be directed to events@hurunui.govt.nz.
The Get Set Go! programme was originally developed by Christchurch and Wellington City Councils.
The council’s Get Set Go! events are funded by grants from the Department of Internal Affairs’ Lottery Hurunui,
Kaikoura, and Marlborough Earthquake Relief Fund.
