Oamaru highway work starts in north Oamaru, SH1 between Virgil Street and Raglan Street
The NZ Transport Agency’s Highway Highlanders contracting team begins a roading rebuild programme next week between Virgil and Raglan Streets in Oamaru along State Highway 1.
Crews are setting up next week from Monday, 26 February and will start milling the southbound lane, then expect to switch to the northbound lanes on Saturday, 3 March. The work is likely to take ten days to complete, depending on the weather.
Crews will keep one lane open at all times, however Stop/Go manual traffic control will be in place throughout construction. People will need to build in a few extra minutes if they normally travel through Oamaru along the main highway.
“While the work is being carried out there will be limited access to side roads and detours in place for some side roads,” says Transport Agency Network Manager Chris Harris.
“We ask people who need to get to the businesses in this area to build in some extra time and planning and thank everyone for their co-operation and patience while this work is completed.
