QLDC Drinking Water Safety Community Meetings

Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Jim Boult, QLDC Councillors and staff are inviting local residents to join them in
discussing future plans for safe drinking water in our community.
At sessions to be held in Glenorchy, Arrowtown and Hawea Flat, issues covered will include permanent options for the
townships currently subject to treatment during the summer period.
QLDC representatives will also discuss the findings and recommendations from Government’s inquiry into the contamination
of drinking water supply, and subsequent outbreak of campylobacteriosis, at Havelock North in August 2016. In
particular, discussions will focus on how the recommendations have raised expectations regarding risks of contamination
throughout the entire reticulation network from source to tap.
Sessions will cover the treatment of water supply in Arrowtown, Arthurs Point, Hawea, Glenorchy and Luggate, and are
being held as outlined below:
