General advisory - rivers and beaches
Following the heavy rainfall brought to Nelson by Ex-Cyclone Gita, we advise not to swim at the beach or in the river for 48 hours after rain, as surface run-off could be a health risk.
Minor sewage discharge - The Haven
A single source sewage discharge occurred in The Haven on the evening of 20 February. Signage will be erected from Marybank to Kinzett Terrace, and monitoring will commence. We advise avoiding water contact in this area until the signs are removed.
