Worsening weather may impact Wellington commuter services

Published: Tue 20 Feb 2018 02:55 PM
Allow extra travel time this afternoon
The weather is expected to worsen this afternoon and your trip home may take longer. The Metservice are advising that high winds are still expected and we may have high tides and large waves impacting coastal areas on the Kapiti Coast overnight. Air New Zealand has cancelled flights in and out of Wellington Airport from 2:45 pm.
Trains
We still have a signals issue in the Hutt Valley affecting Hutt Valley, Wairarapa and Melling Lines. KiwiRail maintenance teams are working hard to try and isolate the signals power fault but passengers should expect delays of 5 to 20 minutes on some services this afternoon. We apologise for the ongoing delays and we will advise if this issue will impact travel again tomorrow morning. Keep an eye on Metlink’s real time information, Metlink text messages and notifications for the latest information.
Buses
Bus services are running to schedule. We have had no reports of flooding or slips at this stage but traffic will be heavy this afternoon. Check real time signs, the website and app for service updates.
Harbour Ferry
The harbour ferry service is on restricted sailings at 2:15, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30pm but again keep an eye on real time information for updates.
Cable Car
The cable car has also advised that they will be closing at 7:00 pm this evening.
