• BDO East to West Charity Cycle Ride Helps Puts Youth on the Right Track

• 24 Riders hope to raise $50,000 for youth charity, Life Education Trust

On 22 February, 24 Taranaki cyclists will be setting off on a 900 kilometre, 9-day charity ride, covering the most beautiful scenery and challenging terrain the region has to offer for a charity that is making a real difference to our youth.

Starting out from the East Cape lighthouse, the riders will make their way across the country, taking in Gisborne, Wairoa, Napier and the National Park, before finishing in New Plymouth on Saturday 3rd March.
The challenge was conceived by Taranaki local Darrel Nicholas in 2015, when the group rode the length of the South Island in aid of The Rural Support.

The ride’s chosen charity for this year, The Life Education Trust, is a charity that educates and empowers New Zealand children to make healthy choices so they can live full and healthy lives. Every year they teach over 250,000 children about their body, friendships, their identity, food and nutrition and helpful and harmful substances.

Funds have been raised by approaching businesses in the community, as well as significant donations from each rider. All of the funds raised in the communities that the riders travel through will be donated to the Life Education branches in those regions.

BDO, the leading accounting & advisory firm, is the naming rights sponsor for the event. BDO offices in Taranaki, Gisborne and Napier will be raising funds for the ride.
